To expand their workforce, our client, a major defense supplier, is seeking an experienced Project Controls Officer. At a sizable, secure government department in Cheltenham, the position will work as part of a project team. You will spend all of your time on the site.
The first contract is expected to last 220 days, or around a year. Since SFIA bands dictate rates, candidates will be evaluated based on their level of experience:
Experience with SFIA band 2, with a daily maximum rate of up to £3,000.
Status of IR35: Within IR35. According to our client, they want to conduct the engagement as though it were inside IR35. For this engagement, candidates would have to work through an umbrella firm that is registered with the FCSA. As instructed by your project manager, contract manager, or project controls lead, complete and deliver the assigned project tasks at the rates shown above.
Responsabilities:
- Keeping tabs on project expenses and generating financial reports.
- Ensuring that invoices are completed accurately and on time.
- Assisting in the maintenance of the Project Management Framework for the company.
- Keeping databases and spreadsheets up to date in accordance with your project or contract manager’s instructions in order to maintain project control.
- Urging project directors and managers to submit their work on time for the project management and finance reports.
- Providing project managers with assistance about financial and business procedures.
- Assist in the management report preparation.
- Creating professional-grade document templates and offering advice on the Stage Gate in accordance with procedures and Project Management Processes (complete training will be supplied).
- Supporting the management of the commercial process from final accounts to the pipeline.
- Helping project managers with reporting and activities related to risk and issue management.
- Keeping and cultivating strong business ties that can lead to recurring business.
- Delivering a presentation that is client-focused, responsive, and professional to clients and important stakeholders.
- Support for project financial, programmatic, and client management.
Requeriments:
- It would be advantageous to have prior project delivery experience or PMO experience along with a solid understanding of structured and agile frameworks and methodologies (e.g., APMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, MSP).
- Planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting of projects with P6, with a preference for Microsoft Project or JIRA experience.
- The capacity to prioritize work and work alone.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills in particular.
- Outstanding numerical and communication abilities.
- Ability to take the initiative to explore for information and data and to investigate issues and find answers.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate with customers and stakeholders from a variety of disciplines.
- A readiness to work remotely from other offices on occasion when needed.
- Familiarity with collaborating across distances to achieve shared objectives.

- Basic knowledge of financial and commercial processes, as well as familiarity with pertinent project management suites.
