Job description and overview: IIX is seeking a seasoned book marketing and publicity specialist. This expert will be in charge of creating and carrying out thorough marketing plans to advertise and distribute Prof. Durreen Shahnaz’s book, The Defiant Optimist, via a variety of media. Prof. Shahnaz is the founder and CEO of IIX. To guarantee optimum visibility and engagement with target audiences, the candidate will collaborate directly with the author (the CEO) and the IIX marketing team. To make sure the book meets its intended sales targets, the book marketing and publicity professional will also be in charge of collaborating closely with the book’s publishers.

Responsabilities:

1. Development of Marketing Strategies:

  • Work together with the IIX marketing team to create marketing plans that are successful and suited to the goals, target audience, and genre of each book.
  • To help guide marketing strategies, investigate reader preferences, competition strategies, and market trends.
  • Submit an award application in a variety of markets.

2. Online and Digital Marketing

  • Oversee online advertising, email, social media, and website campaigns for digital marketing.
  • To create excitement and increase book sales, create interesting material for social media channels.
  • To raise your book’s visibility and search engine ranks, use SEO strategies.
  • Keep current and make changes to The Defiant Optimist website.

3. Production of Content:

  • To market books and engage readers, create engaging written and visual content, such as blog posts, images, videos, and book descriptions.
  • Collaborate with the writer to produce promotional materials, including book trailers, behind-the-scenes photos, and author interviews.

Public Relations:

  • To get attention and reviews for your books, cultivate and maintain connections with media outlets, book bloggers, influencers, and reviewers.
  • To get publicity, submit press releases, stories, and author interviews to the appropriate media contacts.

4. Organizing Events:

  • To boost book visibility and sales, plan and organize author signings, book tours, virtual events, and book launches.
  • To plan and publicize author appearances and book-related events, work with bookshops, libraries, and event coordinators.
  • Maintain strong ties with US and Indian book publishers.

5. Reporting and Analytics:

  • To evaluate efficacy and pinpoint areas for development, track and evaluate sales information, customer feedback, and marketing campaign performance indicators.
  • To convey findings and suggestions, prepare frequent reports and presentations for writers, publishers, and other interested parties.

Requeriments:

  • A bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communications, or a similar discipline.
  • Shown book marketing expertise, ideally from the publishing sector.
  • Strong communication skills, both in writing and speaking.
  • Imaginative thinker who is passionate about reading and narrative.
  • Competence with digital marketing platforms and tools, including as analytics, email marketing, and social media management.
  • Outstanding project management and organizational abilities, as well as the capacity to multitask and adhere to deadlines.
  • Awareness of the most recent developments in consumer behavior, book marketing, and publishing.
  • Initially, the engagement will last for two full days every week for the first two months.
