The Graduate Quantity Surveyor’s role is to assist the commercial aspects of our construction activities from pre-construction to work delivery on site. They will work across all of our construction businesses, primarily in the Yorkshire Region.

As the Sewell £’s custodian, the assistant quantity surveyor is required to help minimize business risk and optimize value.

Responsabilities:

  • During the pre-construction and tender stage, the primary responsibilities will involve assisting with the creation and compilation of subcontract inquiries, conducting take-offs and creating Bills of Quantities (BoQs), recognizing potential risks and opportunities related to costs, and providing support for the technical query and design development process.
  • During the construction and delivery phase, the primary responsibilities will involve overseeing the overall commercial and contractual performance of every project assigned, among other things.
  • Reviewing budgets and cost models, conducting supply chain due diligence, putting together subcontract and supply orders, organizing and creating contract documents, valuing contract works, purchasing ledger and subcontract payments, managing variations, tracking subcontractor performance, and assisting with the creation of monthly cost value reconciliation reports are just a few of the tasks involved.
  • Creation and execution of business systems and procedures, such as the use of take-off and estimating software, accounting software, efficient communication, maximizing the effectiveness of cost reporting, and aiding the larger commercial team in the development and enhancement of financial controls.
  • Building client and supplier chain relationships, encouraging the Sewell behaviors and successful cooperation, keeping an eye on performance, and satisfying customer demands while acting morally for the project and business are all examples of relationship building.

Requeriments:

  • A BSc (Hons) degree or a comparable qualification
  • The capacity to distinctly exhibit the abilities needed to fulfill the commercial obligations
  • Strong negotiating and commercial abilities
  • A mindset centered on the client and solutions
  • Genuine UK a valid driver’s license and personal transportation
    possess outstanding computer literacy and be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • A cheerful and competent demeanor
  • Outstanding communication and organizing abilities
  • The capacity to function both independently and as a team member in a hectic work environment
  • A flexible approach to work and an optimistic outlook on learning and growth
  • Willingness to assist with bids, project management, and administration during busy times in other business domains
  • Describe your understanding of JCT and NEC3 construction contracts.
  • Possessing ConQuest and/or BlueBeam software knowledge and experience
